A piece of Art History in progress
2001
With daughter Vanessa and some like minded Tafe associates he pursued an idea to form a core Art group/art movement with Gallery space based in the popular coastal town of Kingscliff NSW. Kingscliff was then home to the Art, food and Jazz Festival held annually.
In May the Curious Art minus zero no limits Co-Operative Ltd was officially registered and opened its retail Art Gallery only a few minutes drive from Kingscliff at nearby Chinderah Bay by the Tweed River in September 2001.
He has been the Manager and one of the Directors, since the formation of the Co-operative until the present time.

The photograph above titled Abandoned Window was shot on location at an old Brisbane home. It later featured in the solo exhibition, Inverse with some poignant words about the decline of the human spirit from Alzheimer's disease.
(rollover image for the words)
Forming a kind of symbiotic relationship with the imagery of words and the poetry of detail, has produced a body of work in recent exhibitions such as Field of Vision and Inverse. The concept of fusing images and verse began some 40 years for the artist.
How it all began...
He started writing short stories and verse at age 15 and later began drawing on the interior walls of a rented house in Sydney accompanied by random verse. Late 60's graffiti art! Some things just never change! Although the current house walls are not available these days. Pity.
Photography + Web design has in fact become the medium for the bulk of Michael's work for the last few years. His work is exhibited regularly at Curious Art Gallery and manages several websites including Curious Art.
Below is a location map and view of the Gallery.

2012 Curious Digital Photography Workshops

Commencing February 2012 artists, Tracy Jay and Michael Bryant from Curious Digital Photography will be conducting innovative workshops for beginners to intermediate digital photographers.
The workshops are aimed at cultivating photographic skills through
an enjoyable creative process. Participants will develop the skills to enhance the marketability of their images. Today a broad range of
photographic equipment is accessible to everyone.
Curious Digital Photography welcomes all levels of experience for these workshops, as they will include creative briefs which are not dictated by expertise.
The workshops will be held in a studio environment at the Curious Art Gallery, situated in a tranquil riverside setting with expansive panoramic views across the Tweed River to Wollumbin/Mt.Warning.
Participants are expected to bring a camera (any variety i.e. Digital SLR, 35mm film SLR, compact point and shoot etc.)
Computers are available in the Gallery to preview and critique work from assignments.
Tracy and Michael are aware there is a lot on offer for digital photography workshops and have this to say about their classes:
"There are many photography courses out there. Photography workshops are available in Brisbane, the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads and in Byron Bay. However what we are offering is quite unique.
The final outcome of our classes provides students not only with increased creative and technical skills and motivation but also an opportunity to exhibit in a special exhibition for the students in an established Art Gallery near Kingscliff."
An open day workshop at no cost will be held Monday 20th February. Starts 10.30am e.d.s.t.
Limited spaces for this available.
Sign up for the full 8 week course commencing 5th March 2012 can be completed on the day.
(Cost is $240 per person 2 hour sessions for 8 weeks)
