The Queensland Festival of Photography 4, is coming up in April 2012 and will be celebrating photomedia in all its forms during the month of April next year. In its fourth edition the festival has already expanded to include 46 participating venues, from Cairns to the Gold Coast.

Curious Art Gallery will be involved in the festival by featuring a photographic exhibition "The Hungry Ocean" during March/April 2012 featuring the work of Michael Bryant with guest exhibitor Tracy Jay.

Ex Tropical Cyclone Fina delivers huge swell at Kingscliff. Photographer Tracy Jay was close by on Sunday 25th to capture this dramatic shot as the waves break near the already endangered surfclub. Coastal erosion has been relentless at Kingscliff since 2009.

Commencing February 2012 artists, Tracy Jay and Michael Bryant from Curious Digital Photography will be conducting innovative workshops for beginners to intermediate digital photographers.
An open day/information session at no cost will be held at Curious Art Gallery. 20th February 2012 @ 10.30am e.d.s.t.

The workshops are aimed at cultivating photographic skills through an enjoyable creative process. Participants will develop the skills to enhance the marketability of their images. Today a broad range of photographic equipment is accessible to everyone.
Curious Digital Photography welcomes all levels of experience for these workshops, as they will include creative briefs which are not dictated by expertise.
The workshops will be held in a studio environment at the Curious Art Gallery, situated in a tranquil riverside setting with expansive panoramic views across the Tweed River to Wollumbin/Mt.Warning.
Participants are expected to bring a camera (any variety i.e. Digital SLR, 35mm film SLR, compact point and shoot etc.)
Computers are available in the Gallery to preview and critique work from assignments.
Tracy and Michael are aware there is a lot on offer for digital photography workshops and have this to say about their classes:
"There are many photography courses out there in Brisbane, the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads and in Byron Bay. However what we are offering is quite unique. The final outcome provides students not only with increased creative and technical skills and motivation but also an opportunity to exhibit in a special exhibition for the students in an established Art Gallery near Kingscliff."

One of the Curious Artists recently visited Sydney and posted these comments about this exhibition.
“There is close to 200 images in the body of work. Additionally there are the extensive storyboard images and notes for the exhibition. Walking slowly though the various exhibition rooms closely studying and appraising the work took close to 2 hours. It would have been easy after a coffee to do it again but the MCA closes at five and I was only in the doors at 3pm. Big mistake! Allow three to four hours to really take it all in.
Her portrait work is just amazing. Just one of her many creative and technical strengths. The way she uses natural and artificial light is outstanding. Some of the formal portraits have you just standing there drawn in to their world.
Standouts were Mick Jagger, Daniel Day Lewis and a shot of the Queen of England with a dramatic, brooding sky blended in behind her which seems to well suit her apparent mood. (given the time constraints of the shoot as noted in the photographers book which gives a behind the scenes narrative of many of the portrait sittings)
The exhibition is not all about her famous celebrity portraits. Poignant work is seen in her moving pieces of war ravaged areas such as Sarajevo and Rwanda. One shot of just a wall with the blood stained hand and footprints of people attempting to escape is chilling.
This exhibition is not just a must see. It is a must see again and again!”
