Enjoy
the diverse magic from Byron Bay Glass
Artist Allan Reed in his solo exhibition…
“Molten Fusion Still Reflections.”
In 1967, on leaving High School, Allan had the opportunity to learn to blow glass with Swedish glassblowers from Kosta Boda and Orrefors, at the new Dartington Crystal factory in Devon, England. He spent the next 26 years in a team of blowers, mastering the different processes of making fine stem and giftware, and became a Masterblower in charge of his own team in the late 80’s.
In the early 90’s he immigrated to Australia with his family. He has worked for International Glass Artist Colin Heaney from 1993 to the current time at the studio in Byron Bay which creates and exports art glass to U.S.A., Europe, and the Far East.
In 2004 Allan seeking exhibition space for his own Glass creations, became part of the Curious Art movement.
“Joining the Curious Art Co-operative has really helped me to realise my potential as a glass artist in my own right, and given me the chance to exhibit my own creations in this solo exhibition. I have created pieces which depict my interpretation of a tribal theme, and a selection of other art pieces that I have enjoyed creating, using different methods and techniques. The encouragement and enthusiasm of the Curious Art members has been a significant factor in my recent development as a solo artist, and I appreciate their ongoing support.”
The exhibition will feature Glass forms rich in colour and form. From beautiful paperweights to the more sculptural, curvilinear and curious pieces, including vases, goblets, perfume bowls and much more.
