Michael Bryant

Background

Born>>> Sydney, Australia 1951
Artistic Experience>>> Michael began writing short stories and verse at age 15. Self~taught guitar and piano at age 18 with supplementary studies with Don Andrews school of Guitar, music theory at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and in later years, Richard Holland's Jazz Piano and theory course.

He began drawing as a conscious effort to replicate ideas in 1970 on the interior walls of a rented house accompanied by random verse and continues to explore creative avenues of expression writing stories, songs and verse.

A major life direction change occurred in 1998 when after 13 years in a retail partnership, he enrolled at Kingscliff Tafe to seriously study art and related disciplines from 1998 until 2003.

Voluntary Positions

2001 With some Tafe associates and his daughter Vanessa, he pursued an idea to form a core Art group/art movement, based somewhere near Kingscliff NSW.
2001 In May the Curious Art minus zero no limits Co-Operative Ltd was officially registered and opened its retail gallery at nearby Chinderah Bay by the Tweed River in September 2001.
He has been the Manager and one of the Directors , since the formation of the Co-operative until the present time.

He teaches one on one lessons in Creative Digital Media and Website Design. Freelance graphic design and manages several websites.

2006 Release of “North by North East-Magnetic Directions” the second volume about the East Coast of Australia, at the Curious Art Gallery, December 2006.

2007 Release of Inverse, a 25 page book of imagery and verse

2007 Release of A Stone's throw from Paradise, a 25 page book of imagery and verse

Current projects

A short film in collaboration with Ness and Clare Bryant. They will hopefully have it shot, edited and ready for showing by Spetember 2009 for the 8th anniversary exhibition of Curious Art.

Due for Release Dec 2008 : 3 points North - The conclusion to the trilogy of North by North East books.

In progress : A third 25 page book of photography and verse.
